To start learning cooking, begin with simple recipes and fundamental techniques (like chopping, sautéing) using online videos or beginner cookbooks, focusing on understanding why things work, not just what to do; practice consistently with fresh ingredients, build basic kitchen skills (knife handling, heat control), taste as you go, and don't fear mistakes, as repetition builds experience and confidence.

Follow these step and build a solid foundation:
1. Start Simple & Build Foundations
Choose Easy Recipes: Begin with dishes you love to eat, like spaghetti, grilled chicken, or stir-fry, and stick to simple recipes initially.
Master Techniques: Focus on core skills like how to properly chop, dice, sauté, boil, and pan-sear, as these form the basis for many dishes.
Learn the "Why": Watch videos (like Chef John on YouTube) to see and understand why steps are done, not just how, and learn visual cues for doneness.

2. Gather Essentials & Organize
Essential Tools: Invest in a good chef's knife (and keep it sharp!), a cutting board, measuring cups/spoons, and a few quality pans.
Build Your Spice Rack: Start with basic herbs and spices, and learn to taste them individually to recognize their flavors.
Mise en Place: Adopt the habit of prepping all ingredients (chopping, measuring) before you start cooking to make the process smoother.

3. Practice & Experiment
Cook Regularly: Consistency is key; aim to cook one new recipe or practice one skill each week to build experience.
Taste Everything: Taste your food at different stages (when safe) to understand how flavors develop and adjust seasoning as you go.
Don't Fear Mistakes: Every dish, good or bad, teaches you something; learn from failures and try again.
